My Album of The Month (February-March 2012)

Artist: My Dying Bride
Album: 34.788...% Complete
Year: 1998
In 1998, the band switched to a more experimental/gothic sound. 34.788...% distances from traditional My Dying Bride. Initially I didn't enjoy the album. Little by little some tracks grew in me.  The "The Whore, The Cook and The Mother " is the standout. I can consider this as a concept album, dealing with known MDB issues like love, sex, drugs and innocence. with solid composure and a genuine sound exploration.

My Album Of The Month (January 2012)

Album: Oionos
Year: 2010

Etymology: Oionos means vulture or bird of prey in greek mythology.  
The gothic/doom metal band hailing from lazio. Oionos is their second album and i found it quite accidentally. It's very well composed. The good production quality is the first point: vocals, guitar riffs, keyboard sound are all well delivered to the audience with high resolution. The album follows a certain theme in almost all tracks. The horror of war, inhumanity, immorality is vividly noticeable; as the title resembles the concept of apocalypse rules the atmosphere. It never gets boring with variable structure of melodies and orchestration. The metaphorical closing track contains historical part of Robert Oppenheimer's speech remarked after detonation of first atomic bomb; words extracted from Bhagavad Gita: "Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds". 
Guitar solos and vocals which are entirely clean, are so catchy. My favorite tracks are: Fallen Reign, Revelation 3:11, Lost humanity and the title track Oionos.

My Album of The Month(October)

Melancholic ,Majestic and beautiful...all i can say about this album. What makes Evoken so especial is the authenticity of their music,words and themes. It might seem weird but i'm sure the band follows a keen interest in humanism. I watched the official video-clip for "In pestilence,Burning".The first time, i couldn't stand more than a minute of it ,scenes of Auschwitz  extermination camp,the crematorium in the main Auschwitz camp,the ovens...
This music is about pain, about solitude ,despair, and i want to say it's mostly about human .Evoken follows splendid concerns ,sagely dissects the issues as it reflects in lyrics.
Quiets was a notable step forward for doom metal genre,with keyboard beautifully integrated with the whole dynamics of doom music,added a novel dimension to the genre and deepened the somber sound. 
Added to this the crushing riffs ,excellent production and specifically  i want to pay tribute to the most gifted singer John Paradiso.Paradiso manages to carry the burden of gloomy theme and complex senses of horror and melancholy .An unbelievable mix of desperate growls  and melancholic whispers makes a favorable outcome. During my internship at Imam hospital i  stayed wide awaken with Evoken music and the music convey the essence of the period most perfectly.
Evoken music is something special,for special tastes.Certainly not recommended to those who  prefer to follow the popular trend of skating on the surface. 

My New albums

i tried to expand my music circulation by testing some novel prospects.I pursue this purpose in september and the result  was a handful of admirable albums . I think the most immense pleasure of it is due to the dynamism of art,particularly in music. There's a pessimist view to modern music ,considering the facts about financial aspect of record companies and the input/outcome imbalance which i understand. I believe free downloads will  ruin the industry and thats so heart-breaking . Yet  the free music streaming has a produce an unbelievable penetration which perfectly suites some amateur or underground musicians. i agree the current situation is desperate for those who are professionally involved in the context. It reminds me of a porcupine tree song "sound of muzak. Yeah,it's true one of the wonders of the world is going down .
After this preface it's time to introduce my new albums,actually i haven't focused on the new ones yet.My recent adventure mostly follows two distinct directions; slowcore/indie rock and doom metal less recognized subgenres.

3-Soul Whirling Somewhere : Eating The Sea This is probably the most promising among my new album,a beautiful music by a one man project ;it's not easy to describe the sound of SWS it's a prestigious dreamy ambient with wide range of  influence from modern dark-wave to jazz music.


4-Pandors.box : Barriers2009 This is so exciting german rock band Archive.org describes the band :made up of five like-minded, old friends from the sticks of Lower Bavaria. The close ties between the eclectic personalities in this group have given rise to a totally different musical slant – a sound in perpetual search of the perfect equilibrium between a collective consciousness, personal gratification and the expression of higher emotions and ineffable common ideals. Their remarkable, sometimes even evasive space-rock sound has a sober tone which fabricates a feeling of a radically romantic aura that sets pandoras.box apart from the norm in today's indie landscape. It's no wonder that the band currently has a strong underground following of enthusiastic fans. Aggressive, gentle, depressive, sanguine, negative, positive, harmonious, cynical and always with a dash of irony: this band is full of contrasts. pandoras.box expresses a range of different moods and emotions in its chameleonic performances, yet in the end, a compelling, coherent ensemble is created which draws audiences in.

About Daylight Dies

This post is a tribute to my favorite band Daylight Dies. Death/Doom metal pioneers from North Carolina.
Their music has captivated my mind with remarkable melodies and intellectual concepts.Somber acoustic chords,catchy electric guitar riffs, and a fair combination of clean and death growl vocals.
In my opinion Daylight Dies presents something more than traditional doom metal bands.Their style is more flexible ,incorporated various sonic elements into their music.
in "Lost To The Living " songs structural diversity is absolutely amazing.My favorite tracks are Cathedral,A Subtle Violence,The Morning Light and Woke up Lost  

Music On My Radar

I' ve been  closely following some new bands:also as always  i will give some variant genres a try;actually April was fully conquered by unique mournful sound of Shape Of Despair; i ' ve been listening to music as long as i can remember; but this kind of expression through a band's sound is something really rare.i had Angels of Distress since last September but i found the profund quality of it just lately.
Anyway May has been another revoking process ; i listened to Over The Rhine 's Trumpet Child again;and i have to say this couple are just fantastic;if you're interested in jazz music this album is a Must-Buy definitely.
But ...bands i 'm curious about them are these;

3-Abstract Spirit : Russian Funeral Doom Metal hail their 2009 Tragedy and Weeds is in my Wish-List


4-Shearwater  : Indie Rock band from Austin;their 2008 Rook is a highly praised album received an  average score of 85 indicating Universal Acclaim based on 20 reviews. Lyrics mostly focused on Nature and Fairy Tale


5-Lapsus Dei : Brutal Doom Metal band from Chile : after 2005 Beyond The Truth ;they haven't released a single EP; Highly lionized band for Doom Metal Fans

6-Flowing Tears : Outstanding Gothic Metal band from Germany;their album  "Thy Kingdom Gone" is in spotlight


7-Giant Squid : Progressive Metal act from Austin again ! i'm so curious about this 
american metal band .Overall their albums received a high score .

Slow melancholic Throbbing sound with death growls beautifully done.
The band is from Podolsk Moscow.
