Tuesday: Shoulders And Giants

I walked about 6.4 km today (September 11th ). The weather was excellent. It was dark when i started at 6:50. I focused to keep a constant pace and rhythm. Secondly i had to change my breathing. I listened to "Collapse Under The Empire" and 3 tracks of "Les Discrets" from the 2010 album "Septembre et ses Dernieres Pensees".  Post-Rock sound is really fantastic for walking/running. Last week i listened to "Crippled Black Phoenix" and "If These Trees Could Talk". Those were fantastic too.

If you'd asked , i'd definitely say it was Gavin Hayes' voice , lurking in my ears all these long days.
Two thumbs up Dredg , Two Thumbs up "The Pariah, the Parrot, the Delusion".Their fantastic concept album is a fair mix of Progressive Rock and experimental music .Gavin Hayes' vocal's adorable.

My New albums

i tried to expand my music circulation by testing some novel prospects.I pursue this purpose in september and the result  was a handful of admirable albums . I think the most immense pleasure of it is due to the dynamism of art,particularly in music. There's a pessimist view to modern music ,considering the facts about financial aspect of record companies and the input/outcome imbalance which i understand. I believe free downloads will  ruin the industry and thats so heart-breaking . Yet  the free music streaming has a produce an unbelievable penetration which perfectly suites some amateur or underground musicians. i agree the current situation is desperate for those who are professionally involved in the context. It reminds me of a porcupine tree song "sound of muzak. Yeah,it's true one of the wonders of the world is going down .
After this preface it's time to introduce my new albums,actually i haven't focused on the new ones yet.My recent adventure mostly follows two distinct directions; slowcore/indie rock and doom metal less recognized subgenres.

3-Soul Whirling Somewhere : Eating The Sea This is probably the most promising among my new album,a beautiful music by a one man project ;it's not easy to describe the sound of SWS it's a prestigious dreamy ambient with wide range of  influence from modern dark-wave to jazz music.


4-Pandors.box : Barriers2009 This is so exciting german rock band Archive.org describes the band :made up of five like-minded, old friends from the sticks of Lower Bavaria. The close ties between the eclectic personalities in this group have given rise to a totally different musical slant – a sound in perpetual search of the perfect equilibrium between a collective consciousness, personal gratification and the expression of higher emotions and ineffable common ideals. Their remarkable, sometimes even evasive space-rock sound has a sober tone which fabricates a feeling of a radically romantic aura that sets pandoras.box apart from the norm in today's indie landscape. It's no wonder that the band currently has a strong underground following of enthusiastic fans. Aggressive, gentle, depressive, sanguine, negative, positive, harmonious, cynical and always with a dash of irony: this band is full of contrasts. pandoras.box expresses a range of different moods and emotions in its chameleonic performances, yet in the end, a compelling, coherent ensemble is created which draws audiences in.

6-Thy Sinister Bloom : Excellent doom metal band. i highly enjoyed  1996 EP Serein Falls. alas TSB disbanded in 1998 

Music On My Radar

I' ve been  closely following some new bands:also as always  i will give some variant genres a try;actually April was fully conquered by unique mournful sound of Shape Of Despair; i ' ve been listening to music as long as i can remember; but this kind of expression through a band's sound is something really rare.i had Angels of Distress since last September but i found the profund quality of it just lately.
Anyway May has been another revoking process ; i listened to Over The Rhine 's Trumpet Child again;and i have to say this couple are just fantastic;if you're interested in jazz music this album is a Must-Buy definitely.
But ...bands i 'm curious about them are these;

1-Source of Deep Shadows; Polish Doom Metal band and their 2007 album Source of Doom And Perpetual Night  specifically is in my Wish-List


2-The Stanley Brothers : Legendary Virginia-based Bluegrass band active between 1946 - 1966
 you better watch the lyrics of their song 'Your Worries and Troubles Are Mine " so mesmerizing sound belongs to this cult band


3-Abstract Spirit : Russian Funeral Doom Metal hail their 2009 Tragedy and Weeds is in my Wish-List


4-Shearwater  : Indie Rock band from Austin;their 2008 Rook is a highly praised album received an  average score of 85 indicating Universal Acclaim based on 20 reviews. Lyrics mostly focused on Nature and Fairy Tale


5-Lapsus Dei : Brutal Doom Metal band from Chile : after 2005 Beyond The Truth ;they haven't released a single EP; Highly lionized band for Doom Metal Fans

6-Flowing Tears : Outstanding Gothic Metal band from Germany;their album  "Thy Kingdom Gone" is in spotlight


7-Giant Squid : Progressive Metal act from Austin again ! i'm so curious about this 
american metal band .Overall their albums received a high score .


8-Circus Of Damnation : Italian Experimental Doom Metal band


9-Wormphlegm : Finnish Funeral Drone/Doom  Metal ; quite mysterious band


10-Depressed Mode : Finnish Ex- Funeral Doom/Death Metal act; i actually listened to their 2009 album "...For Death " actually it didn't turn to one of my favorites .

11-Comatose Vigil : Russian Funeral Doom Metal; my main target is their 2005 "Not A Gleam Of Hope"


12-Worm Ouroboros ; Exciting Post-Rock ,Post-Metal band with strong folk influence;This San Fransisco-based Trio seems something interesting  Interview here

My Album of the Month(February)

Riverside: Reality Dream 2008
A collection of polish metal/rock band songs.I found the band really exciting;the composure of songs is excellent;clean vocals Mariusz Duda is quite mesmerizing.Guitar riffs reminds are poweful and the music is all you expect from a Progressive genre pioneer. Influences of Pink Floyd ,Camel.Deep Purple is noticeable but Riverside create their own sound either.Some parts they intend to pay tribute to Progressive Rock giants for example the song Back to the River contains an excerpt from Pink Floyd's Shine on your Crazy Diamond.
My favorite tracks are:

  2-Conceiving You
  3-I Turned You Down
Overall i give realty dream an 8/10
