Valencia's Welcome Boost

Antonio Valencia could return to action as early as February, according to Sir Alex.
A statement released by the club on Thursday said the Ecuador winger, who dislocated and fractured his ankle against Rangers on Tuesday night, was likely to miss “a good portion of the season”.
Given Alan Smith took seven months to return after suffering a similar injury at Liverpool in February 2006 many assumed Valencia would return in April or May.
But the manager confirmed on Friday morning that the prognosis was better than first expected.
“Antonio had his operation and it was successful,” he said. “The break was clean and we were delighted to announce that. It was a major concern for us at the time.

“There’s ligament damage but we’re looking at the end of February, which is better than we thought on Tuesday night. He’s a strong boy and he’s very positive about it – being positive helps in these situations.”
