I'm busy reading Paul Auster's debut book "The Invention Of Solitude",it's the 4th Auster's book in my shelf after:"New York Trilogy","Leviathan" and "In The Country Of Last Things" .I have to say it's been really touching so far.
key phrases i faced"Invisible to others and most likely invisible to himslf as well"
that sounds appealing.. haven't read anything by him.. yet. Coincidence has it I'm reading "Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison that also focuses on this topic (but from a racial perspective)
ReplyDeleteThanks Adelina:
ReplyDeleteI havent heard about Ralph Ellison's Invisible man(kinda curious about it)and it sounds like a perfect suggestion.
as long as we're talking about invisible man i just wanted to mention the book by H.G.Wells;it had a huge impact,i loved the idea and i lived with that book for so many years...
About Auster: i feel all his works are related to each others and some common subjects in all of them are : Solitude , Death ,a sense of imminent disaster,Absence or disappearance of a first degree relative,Coincidence,American history,Politics,...
Most of them narrated by an obsessive writer as the centeral character...
One of the main influeces in his writing is Jacques Lacan Psychoanalysis
